War Hero and Actor Audie Murphy

1950 — 1950-Film star Audie Murphy, World War II’s most decorated hero, will train with Texas’ famed 36th National Guard Infantry for possible action in Korea. Murphy received a Captain’s commission of intelligence in the 36th Division unit at Austin, T.X., and will train with the Division at Fort Hood, T.X. Murphy is officially credited with killing, capturing or wounding 240 Germans during World War II.
