“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
― Sun Tzu, “The Art of War”
SaveTheWest.com was created to serve as an educational resource to help raise public awareness of vital facts concerning the war for Western civilization. In addition to all the other items our site features to advance this mission, we recently debuted a new effort, to recognize notable players on opposing sides of this war, specifically:
- “Defenders of Western Civilization” – those who courageously exemplify the values and principles we need to survive.
- “Useful Idiots” – those who exist on Western soil, yet are subverting the values upon which our freedom depends.
For a deeper background and analysis of the issues that give rise to this series, SaveTheWest.com Editor Jon Sutz has written an expansive essay, “Introduction to ‘Defenders of Western Civilization’ and ‘Useful Idiots’.”
Catherine Engelbrech, our newest Defender of Western Civilization
Catherine Engelbrecht, founder and president of True The Vote, earned this designation by standing up for our right to honest elections against a shocking, retaliatory harassment campaign. In a broader analysis, Engelbrecht and her colleagues did exactly what our Founders knew would be required to preserve our free, self-governing republic: they got personally involved, taking time away from their families and work obligations to help ensure the preservation of our freedoms, and our right to electoral integrity.

Bill de Blasio, our newest Useful Idiot
Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City, earned this designation by leading the charge to create the “NYCID” program, which makes it far easier for illegal aliens and potential terrorists to live in NYC. De Blasio was elected on a platform of his promises to give voice and support to the poor and others, whom he alleged are treated unfairly in our society, and to do what the masses desire. Instead, one of his first acts was to betray the fundamental obligation of any mayor: to protect the safety and property of citizens and lawful residents of his city.
